Event Details
georgia has a long and dreadful history of violence against lgbtiqa+ people, mainly exercised by far-right groups and the georgian orthodox church. MARCH OF DIGNITY captures only a brief lapse in this continuum of violence but sheds light on a crucial moment in georgia’s history and its decision whether to follow a russian supported anti-queer legislative or to choose a path that secures human rights and progress. the film accompanies a group of lgbtiqa+ activists in tbilisi, while they organize the country’s first pride march. it is about claiming space, about the fight for visibility and human rights and about queer realities surrounded by an environment of violence.
